SD Indestruct Bed Review

The Sleeping Duck Indestruct Bed range certainly is extensive – it’s one of the most customisable bed frames on the market. It includes a number of models like Baker, Boyd, Haussman, Palais and more, as well as several design options like headboards/legs and so on.

To be most comparable to similar products, we’re reviewing the Baker model with a bedhead, European Oak finish and height adjustable legs. This is what it looks like:

This is my review after building it, and sleeping on it for a week. I’ll be talking about the benefits of the base, the cost, durability, things to keep in mind and more.

Benefits of the SD Bed Base

The SD is a highly customisable bed base and you really can mix and match to make your perfect frame.

It comes with a level adjustable, infallible leg support system that is not supposed to shake or squeak.

There’s also a 50kg steel support system made from C-Channel Structural Steel beams for the ultimate support. Plus, steel beam spinal support under each sleeper that won’t bow or sag, making it the ideal bed base for those with a bad back – you’ll receive great support.

Things to Keep in Mind

The SD bed base range only comes in two sizes: queen and king, but this should suit most Australian households.

The SD Bed weighs over 110kg across 4 boxes as well, so be mindful of this and have a friend help you build it.

It also can be fiddly to build (depending on your level of handy-person skills).

There are countless choices and ways to build your perfect bed frame, so if you suffer from choice overload, just keep that in mind!

I think the SD bed base might be the strongest we’ve tested on mattressreviews.com.au.

It features 4 ‘panel slats’ that create a flat, even surface that should suit any mattress. These panel slats are designed with varying-sized holes to enhance ventilation – so it’s great for breathability.

The baker model comes in 3 colours too: European Ash (light), European Oak (medium gold) and American Walnut (dark toned) to suit all styles.

The Sleeping Duck Indestruct Bed can be ordered online and it arrives (with free shipping) in four separate boxes.

Depending on which model you get, shipping will vary but SD is usually pretty good with quick shipping and flexibility on days/timeframes.

These are just some of the pieces you have to put together: you can see it looks a little daunting! And a lot of these parts are quite heavy, plus with the fiddly nature of this base, it’s definitely best to have someone help you build it.

The bed base actually only requires two different Allen keys to put together (which are provided) and there are detailed instructions on how to build the bed. But if you’re not a very handy person, it might take a few times reading before it makes sense (guilty).

It took me and my partner 45 minutes to put this bed together.

Trial Period & Returns & Warranty

There is no trial period on the SD Indestruct Bed. However, if you receive the bed frame and change your mind within 14 days (unopened and original packaging intact), you can return the bed for a refund.

The SD Indestruct Bed also comes with a lifetime warranty on the Indestruct Steel Core Support System and a 10 year warranty on aesthetic finishes to keep you covered in the event of any manufacturing defects.
