Why We Love the Ecosa Zen Bed Base

The Ecosa Zen Bed Base is Ecosa’s premium solid American Ash timber bed base. It can be bought as a standalone product, or you can add a headboard (Ecosa Rise) for added convenience and comfort. In a Queen, the Zen Bed Base retails for $1,400 ($840 for members), with an extra $600 for the bed head – $2,000 all up ($1,600 for members). High-quality, easy to assemble and mostly squeak free, you really can’t beat this offering from Ecosa.

Ecosa Zen Bed Base Key Features

Air Flow

The flat slats on the Zen bed bases provide ventilation during the night and throughout the day. It gives you that extra breathability to cool down when you’re sleeping and allows for maximum air circulation, extending the lifespan of your memory foam mattress and providing a cooler sleep.

Adjustable Non-Scratch Feet

The bed base comes with scratch-resistant feet that absorb movement. Plus, if you have a pesky uneven floor, set each of the feet to your desired height.

Storage

Under the Rise bed frame it is 20cm of depth to store anything you like. It also has a hidden shelf behind the bedhead to store decorative items perhaps, photos and plants, or even keep your phone during the night.

Soft Edges

The Zen bed base is made with soft and curved edges all around to soften any impact of hitting solid wood.

How Sturdy is the Ecosa Zen Bed Base?

The Ecosa Zen Bed base is a durable and dependable foundation for your mattress. Its panel slats provide a uniform surface that can accommodate almost any type of mattress. The raised borders prevent the mattress from shifting, no matter how much you move around during sleep. With a weight capacity of up to 600kg, the base feels sturdy and secure. Moreover, the panel slats promote proper ventilation and airflow, adding to the overall quality of the product.

Ecosa Zen Bed Base Assembly

Ecosa says both frames can be put together in under 5 minutes and with no tools. Was that my experience? Not quite. The no tools part was excellent. Could I do it in under 5 minutes? No. BUT Ecosa does recommend you put it together with two people. I put together the bed base all by myself and between some trial and error, watching the YouTube set-up video a couple of times, it took me roughly 15 minutes (plus 20 minutes unpacking the bed frame pieces out of the box!) Still, it’s a massive improvement on how long it used to take me to put together old bed frames (an hour plus!)

You can choose between two colours: Ash (blonde colour) and Walnut (dark brown).

Delivery Times

Ecosa delivers the Ecosa Zen Bed Base fast and free to metropolitan Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. If your bed base order is placed by 1pm (AEDT) on a weekday, your order will be delivered the same day.

For those outside our metro delivery zone, expect your order to arrive in 1-7 days. Some regional deliveries will incur a flat fee of $175 due to higher transportation costs.

Trial & Warranty Information

Unlike the Ecosa Zen Bed Base which comes with a 120 night trial, the Zen Bed Base does not come with a trial. It does, however, come with a 5 year warranty. This warranty covers damage as a result of defects in workmanship and materials of the bed base that has at all times been used for normal domestic use. The bed base warranty covers severe cracks, breaks and faults that impact the bed base’s functionality or safety.

Ecosa Zen Bed Base Vs Koala Timber Bed Base

Choosing between the Ecosa Zen Bed Base & Koala Timber Bed Base? It’s easier to compare the Ecosa Rise with the Koala Timber as both feature headboards, whereas the Zen is just the base.

Either way, in our opinion, the Ecosa Zen/Rise has a few standout features which makes it a superior product. First of all, Ecosa’s base is all solid natural timber, whereas Koala’s is plywood. Ecosa has non-scratch, adjustable feet, whereas Koala has neither. And also, Ecosa comes in two distinct colours, while Koala only has one colour.

Is the Ecosa Zen Bed Base Worth it?

If you’re after a high quality timber bed base, we couldn’t recommend the Ecosa Zen Bed Base enough. An excellent price (with a free member discount which only requires you to subscribe to the Ecosa email database), easy to assemble and a sleek and modern look and feel that’ll elevate the decor of any bedroom. While a trial would be nice, it’s not really necessary because there’s no reason not to love this product.
