How Sturdy is the Koala Paddington Bed Base?

The Koala Paddington Bed Base features 4 panel slats that create a level surface suitable for most mattresses. With a weight capacity of up to 240kgs, the base feels solid and secure. The padded headboard provides a comfortable backrest for reading or sitting up in bed.

The overall construction of the bed base is of excellent quality, and the panel slats promote good airflow. Additionally, there is ample storage space under the bed, with a height of over 30 cm.

It’s worth noting that the bed base is larger than the mattress, but the side supports have some padding to cushion any accidental bumps. However, caution is advised for those unfamiliar with this type of design. The headboard also includes a convenient shelf for storing spare bedding or charging electronic devices.

Assembly was quick and easy and can easily be done by one person. Koala claims it can be built in under 4 minutes, but it took me around 10 (not including unboxing the pieces).

The steps to build it are displayed on a large piece of cardboard, and even for me as someone who’s not very handy, it was pretty simple to follow.

Delivery Times

The bed base warranty covers severe cracks, breaks and faults that impact the bed’s functionality or safety.
